The Pricing and Purchasing Analyst – Sherrill, Inc. position is a critical role within the Purchasing Department. This high-energy and self-motivated individual will be instrumental in performing thorough and comprehensive pricing analysis for Sherrill, Inc., as well as engage in purchasing functions for the Organization. Sherrill, Inc. is the largest mail order and online arborist supply company in the United States, supporting sales for three eCommerce websites and domestic / international distribution sales.
This individual must be a self-starter with strong personal skills, coupled with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. The Pricing and Purchasing Analyst must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build a working rapport within all departments in the Organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conducts pricing analysis and makes recommendations based on industry standards, strategies, business trends, gross margin % and rate growth targets, exchange rate fluctuations and competitive landscape. Studies consumer spending habits and provides a timely review that may require immediate retail price adjustments. Measure the positive financial impact made by pricing decisions (ROI, P&L implications, Net Sales, Margins etc.)
Collaborates with senior management to share market feedback, communicate opportunities, identify price points for new products, and implement solutions to issues and escalate concerns when appropriate.
Establishes pricing strategies and creates the necessary infrastructure to support ongoing pricing decisions for all business segments by implementing and updating statistical programming software and database.
Engages in daily purchasing activities, co-negotiating terms and conditions with vendors - in conjunction with Merchandising/Marketing Brand Managers
Manages respective inventory levels and control activities to ensure the company is minimizing stock levels, while optimizing customer service and fill rates.
Refines and execute strategies to optimize inventory allocation between two main DCs
Responsible for forecasting needs, analyzing movement patterns, sales and sell-through velocity, performance reporting, and resolving inventory discrepancies
Manage to relevant KPIs – OTB, Sell-through %, Turns, GMROI, etc.
Achieving organizational objectives and goals.
College degree with at least five years’ pricing analysis and purchasing experience in a retail / online environment, analyzing inventory, and establishing and reviewing product costs and purchase price variances
Knowledge of established inventory control and material planning techniques
Strong Analytical & multi-tasking skills required – with excellent attention to detail.
Enthusiastic, passionate, self-starting approach to work and life overall
“Can-do” spirit with a willingness to roll up their sleeves, ‘own it’ and take on any needed tasks
Ability to understand and engage with customers of all types and demographics
Willingness to travel domestically – up to 20 days/year
Proficiency in the arborist / arboriculture industry a plus.
